Jitendra Vaswani of BloggersIdeas speaks about what drives him in his entrepreneurship and the best techniques to be strong in bad times, enhance your performance, and keeping the momentum going – follow his story below.
When and why did you start considering affiliate marketing business as a career? How did you first get into the affiliate space?
I started my internet marketing journey in 2012 while I was working with a very small startup as an SEO executive and I started at a very low salary due to no interest in programming and I was very disheartened. My family always wanted me to be a programmer but I hated it. My family were against my career.
Suddenly I developed an interest in SEO and from that point, my life took a huge turn and I did a job for 2.5 yrs and finally started my first blog: BloggersIdeas.com and the rest is history. In my first book, I have described everything about my journey. This was my first affiliate marketing blog and I decided to make my career in affiliate marketing.
Through my first book “Inside A Hustler’s Brain: In Pursuit of Financial Freedom” I want to help people to take actions in their life and bring change in people’s mindset. To have an entrepreneur mindset is everything.
I would like to mention about my biggest influences in this marketing industry are:
● Neil Patel
● Gary Vaynerchuk
● Jordan Peterson
● Lewis Howes
● Rand Fishkin
Every day I learned a lot from these marketing experts and to grow in digital business you need to update yourself, if you are not upgrading you are downgrading. They inspire me to learn more and be a better human being. I firmly believe that gratitude and kindness is a long term strategy for unicorn businesses in this era.
What were your biggest challenges when first starting? What’s been your biggest nightmare to date
When I was starting out the affiliate marketing my biggest fear was to survive in the affiliate marketing space for a long time. I left my job in 2014 and I was really worried, to be honest. I do have nightmares sometimes of losing my all money in blogging. But somehow I kept the momentum and I started following all top-notch industry experts and it helped me a lot to get the success I needed in my life.
My biggest nightmare to date is losing my family. I love my family very much. My father is very important to me and I lost my Mother in 2018 due to cancer it was heartbreaking and that created fear for me. I always try to spend more time with my family because it’s important to stay attached to your family
How did you scale up your affiliate marketing business?
I scale up my affiliate game by following top people in my industry and attending the best conference to meet unicorns in my space. Because if you want to stay in the game and scale to the moon, you need to attend workshops, masterminds and stay connected to the best people in the industry. I would advise everyone who is starting out in affiliate marketing to go to events and meet people. Keep learning and open your mind to new knowledge. Because knowledge is the new currency of affiliate marketing. I am able to scale my business to 6 figure profits annually.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when starting out?
A strong mindset & mental toughness as an entrepreneur is super important when starting out a business. When I was starting out I didn’t have high mental power. Once you have a strong mindset you can achieve anything in your business. Many entrepreneurs fail in the first 5 years of their business because they lack the mental ability to deal with failures.
What helps make your performance successful? What are the main challenges? What are the main challenges for the sector particularly during this pandemic?
Surrounded by highly positive people help me enhance my performance always. The main challenge is to keep the momentum in bad times. You can be strong in bad times if you have high mental strength.
The main challenges I see during a pandemic for many businesses are adopting the digital system for their business. Many businesses that were depending on their offline revenues have been crashed badly. Lockdown and COVID-19 spikes have crippled these businesses. So it is the right time to take your business digitally and start driving sales online.
What motivates you to promote more, and what helps you boost your motivation?
I love what I do, I sleep with business & I wake up with business. It’s in my blood and I will die as an entrepreneur. Many people do things they don’t love, so they feel lazy. Laziness is a signal that you don’t like this stuff & you need to find something that makes you happy every day.
I do listen to Ted talks, watch motivational videos from Gary Vee, Jordan Peterson, Lewis Howes, Tony Robbin & Brian Tracy. If you reverse engineer these successful people you will find what things they have to achieve that kind of success and how they keep themselves motivated.
Which markets do you focus on and do you see any potential in the emerging markets?
I primarily focus on the digital marketing niche because this is my expertise and I run my blogs around these topics only. Yes, I do have travel, dating, health & crypto blogs too.
I am seeing the health industry is booming in pandemic due to the demand for health products. Many people are now buying immunity boosters product to boost their health so they don’t catch COVID-19.
If you have money then you should start ecommerce business in 2021 and make huge money with it. Selling essential products to the right market can help you make fortune.
Which niches work best for your affiliate marketing, and which are the most profitable? How did you find your most profitable niche?
For me, the best niche is making money online and doing product reviews in sub-niches like ecommerce, dropshipping, Amazon tools, Email marketing, VPN, Hosting & affiliate network platforms.
My blog: Bloggersideas is based on these sub-niches and I am making a good amount of money. Through this one blog, I made 30+ more blogs that are profitable.
What makes your traffic proposition/traffic sites unique?
If you see my blog, I interviewed a lot of digital marketing experts like Zac Johnson, Neil Patel, Ann Smarty, Rand Fishkin & many more, I shared their interviews on these social platforms to get attention from my target folks.
If you are creating great piece of content you need to share it with your audience on social platform you engaged on. Share debates, interviews & podcast, this way you will get engagement & interact with your targeted customers.
Also, my traffic is now 90% organic and I never did paid traffic when I started, because I didn’t have much money at that time. I started this blog with invest of 50$ and this 50$ investment is now
worth millions as I am doing affiliate marketing & making money through a lot of sponsors. You need to use free resources – whatever available for you in the beginning. Don’t go for paid at the start if you don’t have much cash in your hands.
How can affiliates be more unique in their approach?
By focusing on their niche and mastering it. Don’t try to copy your competitors or friends. Just be unique and master one skill set where nobody can beat you. I master my blogging & SEO skills which have helped me achieved a laptop lifestyle.
Which qualities and skills are essential in an affiliate team/business?
The #1 quality in affiliate business is managing & hiring the right team members. Whenever I hire an employee I always look for references from my team. I build a 20+ people team only on basis of strong reference. I always ask my team member that I have a position for XYZ position, so they always refer me to the best people. If you have a solid team then you can easily scale your affiliate game to the next level.
Do you create all the marketing material you need to promote in-house, or do you outsource it?
I create my marketing materials needs through my team I hired. I have a team of SEO’s, content writers, link builders, email outreach, marketing managers & my 3 main business partners. I need to manage all the team members via Slack. Whenever I have some requirement I put the task on Slack and my team do it. This way we manage all our needs. Make sure you have detailed SOP’s for your team members so they can understand your requirement easily. Without SOP’s you will lose a lot of time & money.
How important is social media activity for your affiliate marketing? How difficult is it with Google’s constant updates?
Social media is very important for your affiliate marketing. I have several blogs I need to build a social fortress for every blog and my team takes of social sharing of all the blogs on social media. Google likes to see that your affiliate blog having social media activity and this will trust your domain. Google updates constantly hit affiliate websites that are not updated regularly and not having enough social signals to build trust.
Google updates in 2021 are brutal and many affiliates crashed in 2021 review update by Google because they don’t have detailed content and no social activity for their respective content.
How does technology play a part in your day-to-day?
Without the great technology how a business can survive, if you don’t have good internet how you gonna run your online business. Having great internet and access to the best tech gadgets for my business is super important. Without it, my business will never thrive. I love the way technology is evolving and helping business owners to take their business online smoothly.
How do you manage relationships with multiple operators? What can operators do to increase support with affiliates?
I do manage my relationships with multiple affiliate managers. I work with 100+ affiliate programs currently as I have 30+ niche blogs and I do run affiliate programs into several niches like eCommerce, health, VPN, hosting, email software, education, travel, dating, health, crypto & finance related offers.
I always have clear communication with affiliate companies about how I will promote their advertisers and what will be my promotional strategies, by having clear communication you always chances of running successful campaigns.
I work with top affiliate networks like ShareAsale, Cj.com, Impact.com, Rakuten.com.
What are the benefits of attending large events, and what can they do better?
If you want to grow in the affiliate marketing domain just remember that you always need to upgrade yourself in terms of knowledge. Your network is your net worth.
Because many fortune 500 companies have gone out of business because they didn’t adapt to the new marketing terms and they went bankrupt.
Go out to the best industry networking events & meet people to understand their business & requirements so you can offer your services to them. Attending large events, seminars or workshops are one of the fastest ways to get success in affiliate marketing.
Tell us a bit about yourself – after all, business is done with people, not just companies! Your hobbies, favourite book, favourite quote?
To be honest, I don’t read many books, but, yes, I did listen to audio versions of some of the books I am mentioning below:
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiosaki, one of the best book for managing finance and knowing the difference between liability and assets.
Experts Secrets by Russel Brunson: This is my favorite book when it comes to marketing, this book tells how you can use your expertise to make money online.
